I’m a doctor, an ophthalmologist in the UK.  I completed my training this summer, and I’m taking a year out to circumnavigate the world on the Clipper round-the-world yacht race.

It’s the world’s longest yacht race, and during 11 months the 12 yachts we’ll visit 16 cities, cross all the major oceans, and travel 40,000 miles.  At times, the nearest humans will be those in the international space station.

It’s a huge challenge, physically and mentally.
