Fresh from today’s crew briefing, I thought it was time to a start a blog.

Race start date is Sunday 30.8.2015…

Some of the ports are still to be confirmed, but these are the (approximate) details so far:

Leg 1, Race 1: UK to Brazil

  • Destination Rio de Janeiro. 5200 nM, 26-30 days at sea

Leg 2, Race 2: Brazil to South Africa

  • Destination Cape Town. 3400 nM, 15-18 days at sea

Leg 3, Race 3: South Africa to Australia

  • Destination Albany. 4750 nM, 22-26 days at sea

Leg 4: Australia

  • Race 4: Albany to Sydney. 2100 nM, 10-13 days at sea
  • Race 5: 2015 Rolex Sydney-Hobart race. 628 nM, 3-4 days at sea
  • Race 6: Hobart to Whitsundays 1600 nM, 8-11 days at sea

Leg 5: Australia to China

  • Race 7: Whitsundays to SE Asia. 4500 nM, 28-32 days at sea
  • Race 8: SE Asia to Qingdao. 1800 nM, 12-16 days at sea

Leg 6, Race 9: China to USA

  • Destination Western USA. 5700 nM, 26-30 days at sea

Leg 7: USA

  • Race 10: Western USA to Panama. 3300 nM, 21-25 days at sea
  • Panama canal transit. 45 nM, 12 hours
  • Race 11: Panama to Eastern USA. 2100nM, 13-15 days at sea

Leg 8: USA to UK

  • Race 12: Eastern USA to Derry-Londonderry, Northern Ireland. 2300 nM, 13-17 days at sea
  • Race 13: Derry-Londonderry to European mainland. 800 nM, 4-5 days at sea
  • Race 14: The Homecoming. 250 nM, 2 days at sea.
